An Emergency Medicine expert witness is a physician with relevant training and experience who can evaluate medical care and provide an expert opinion about issues within Emergency Medicine.
In my work, that usually begins with reviewing the medical records and determining what the medical evidence supports.

Historically, most of my attorney engagements have been for plaintiff counsel, but I also review cases for defense counsel and welcome additional defense engagements.
My approach does not change based on which side retains me. I review the medical evidence and give counsel my opinion.

When you retain me, you are hiring me for my medical opinion. You are not hiring me simply to support a predetermined position.
If I don’t believe the medical evidence supports a finding of negligence, I’ll tell you.
My formal written opinions, affidavits, and testimony are limited to Emergency Medicine and Primary Care.
I can review records involving other fields of medicine to identify potential issues, but I do not present myself as an expert or provide affidavits outside my areas of expertise.
Depending on the case, I may review emergency department records, history and physical, discharge summaries, physician progress notes, and other medical records relevant to the care being evaluated.
The exact records needed depend on the circumstances of the case.
I discuss my findings with the retaining client by phone and provide a written report.
If I identify medical negligence within my areas of expertise, I can prepare an affidavit of merit and continue working with the client as the case proceeds.
Yes, when my review identifies negligence and the matter falls within Emergency Medicine or Primary Care.

I provide deposition and trial testimony when required. I have testified at trial as a medical expert on four occasions.
I have approximately 13 years of medical expert witness and have been a medical expert on many occasions. I have reviewed over 200 medical cases.
That experience is supported by more than 30 years practicing Emergency Medicine.
Yes. I have been board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine since 1993.
Yes. I perform Independent Medical Examinations in connection with automobile accident cases.

The current fee schedule is based primarily on the number of pages reviewed:
Less than 200 pages: $600
Less than 400 pages: $1,000
More than 400 pages: $2,400
Separate fees apply for depositions and trial testimony.
